U SPORTS TOP 10 | WVB NO. 3, MVB NO. 5

LANGLEY, British Columbia – Coming off a weekend sweep of No. 4 Alberta, Trinity Western’s women’s volleyball team remained at No. 3 in the U SPORTS Top 10, while the Spartans men’s volleyball team jumped up to No. 5 following a split with No. 4 Alberta.

The Spartans women’s volleyball owns the best record in the country, with a 6-0 mark through the first three weekends of the season. TWU will now head out on the road for back-to-back weekends, playing Winnipeg (Nov. 9-10) and Saskatchewan (Nov. 16-17).

The men’s team beat Alberta in three sets to open its two-match series last weekend with the Bears, before falling in a five-setter in Saturday night’s contest. Like the women’s team, TWU will travel to play the No. 6-ranked Wesmen and the No. 9 Huskies over the next two weeks.

TWU’s volleyball teams are back at home Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 when they host Calgary.

With their national championships this week, last week’s soccer and cross country rankings were the final rankings of their seasons.

New this season, U SPORTS is implementing the ELO Rating System for the calculation of its weekly national rankings for soccer. Powered by RankR, ELO’s unique algorithm blends a statistical calculation with customized variables that is adaptable across a range of sports.

The cross country and women’s volleyball rankings are still based on coaches’ votes. The men’s volleyball rankings are also based on a statistical calculation (VRS).
