SPARTANS TRAVEL TO PLAY MACEWAN IN FINAL TWO REGULAR SEASON GAMES

LANGLEY, B.C. – The Trinity Western University Men’s basketball team will end its regular season in Edmonton against the MacEwan University Griffins. The Spartans are coming off a successful weekend, in which they split with the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack.

THE WEEKEND STORY
• The weekend series in Edmonton will mark the first-ever regular season meeting between the Spartans and Griffins.
• The Spartans are coming off a weekend split with TRU, with their one win coming on senior athlete appreciation night this past Saturday.
• TWU said farewell to graduating seniors Peter Spangehl (Surrey, B.C.), Tyus Allen (Surrey), and Pogos Trunyan (Sacramento, Calif.).
• Vartan Tanielian (Surrey) had an impressive weekend where he averaged 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He was also named the Spartan Men’s Athlete of the Week.
• Trunyan has attempted a TWU record 172 3-point shots, putting him in a tie for 11th on the Canada West all-time list for 3-point attempts in a season.
• The Spartans are looking to capitalize on a Griffins team that has just one win in its last seven games.
• One of the most dangerous players for the Griffins is Adonis Monfort-Palomino who is second in Canada West with 5.9 assists per game.
