SPARTANS HOST SIMON FRASER THURSDAY, EASTERN WASHINGTON SATURDAY

LANGLEY, British Columbia – Following a bye week, the Spartans are back at home this weekend as they host league-leading Simon Fraser Thursday and Eastern Washington Saturday at the Langley Events Centre.

WEEKEND PREVIEW
Thursday, Feb. 2 vs. Simon Fraser (12-3-0-2) – 7 p.m. (PT)
Saturday, Feb. 4 vs. Eastern Washington (1-15-0-0) – 7 p.m. (PT)

THE WEEKEND STORY
•    The Spartans and Clan, who sit first and second in the BCIHL standings, play each other for the third time in a row in what is something of rubber match after the teams split their last weekend series.
•    Since their last meeting, both teams had a bye week before embarking on the final month of their regular season schedules. Including Thursday’s contest, TWU and SFU will play each other three more times before the end of the regular season.
•    The last time the teams met at the LEC, the Spartans earned its first ever shootout win on home ice.
•    After limping into their bye week with a number of injuries, expect TWU to have several players back in its lineup Thursday, including Jarrett Fontaine (Humboldt, Sask.), who is tied for the BCIHL goal-scoring lead with 12.
•    TWU’s Evan Last (Surrey, B.C.) leads the BCIHL in points, with six goals and 20 assists.
•    The Spartans are 2-1 against the Clan this year. TWU is 8-20-1 all-time against SFU.
•    SFU’s Scott Patterson leads the Clan in scoring with seven goals and 16 assists.
•    In three games against TWU, Patterson has yet to register a point.
•    The Spartans are 14-9-2 all-time against Eastern Washington.
•    TWU has won 12 straight games against the Eagles and hasn’t lost to EWU since the 2013-14 season.
•    Tanner Hawes leads EWU in scoring with four goals and nine assists.
•    EWU’s Beau Walker, who was last year’s BCIHL scoring leader, is back in action after missing most of the season due to injury. He has played just five games this year, but is coming off his most productive outing of the season last weekend in which he tallied a goal and an assist against Victoria.
