SPARTANS FALL TO CONCORDIA IN HIGH-SCORING PRESEASON TILT

EDMONTON – In a goal-filled contest, the Trinity Western men's hockey team dropped a 7-6 preseason decision against Concordia University of Edmonton (ACAC) Friday night.

The Spartans opened up a 4-1 lead midway through the second period, but the Thunder scored a pair of goals before the end of the frame to set up a wild third period.

Concordia tallied two shorthanded goals in quick succession to take a one-goal lead, only to have the Spartans equalize late in the third period.

However, Concordia tallied twice inside the final three minutes to take the lead for good, going up 7-5. A late Spartans goal made for a frenetic finish, but one that ultimately saw the Thunder escape with the win.

TWU is now 1-1 in preseason action, having earned a 2-1 win over Simon Fraser in the Spartans first contest of the inaugural Captains Cup last weekend.

Head Coach Barret Kropf
"We have some things to correct, but overall the effort was there. We just have to adjust some things system-wise and go from there."
