LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western defenceman Dustin Deugau (Calgary) was named the BCIHL’s Defenceman of the Month for February.
Now in his second BCIHL season with the Spartans, Deugau has become a key offensive contributor on the TWU blueline. The 21-year-old from Calgary notched ten assists in five games in February. He had three multi-point games, including a five-assist outing in an 11-1 win over Eastern Washington Feb. 9. Deugau's 24 points this season is the highest point total he's achieved at the bantam, midget, junior or collegiate hockey level in a single season.
BCIHL AWARD WINNERS – FEBRUARY
Player of the Month - Beau Walker, Eastern Washington University
A fifth-year veteran with EWU, Babych led all BCIHL scorers in February, tallying ten goals and three assists in seven games. He had four multi-point games during the month, including a four goal effort on February 2 vs. the University of Victoria and was held pointless in just one game. The 25-year-old is second in BCIHL scoring this season and has moved into fourth place on the league's all-time scoring list.

Goaltender of the Month - Lyndon Stanwood, Simon Fraser University
February 2018 marks the third time in his three year BCIHL career that Stanwood has claimed this award, but the first time this season. The 23-year-old from West Vancouver played all six games for SFU during the month and had a 5-0-1 record. The lone blemish was a 3-2 overtime loss vs. Selkirk College on February 24. In addition to being unbeaten in regulation, Stanwood had a 2.11 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage. He has set a BCIHL career high with 15 wins this season.
Rookie of the Month - Joshua Cook, Vancouver Island University
He may not get as much attention as Garrett Dunlop or Gage Colpron, but the 23-year-old Cook is part of the dangerous depth up front for the Mariners. The Essex, England native was deadly in the last month, scoring four goals and three assists in six games. Cook, who was the captain of the WSHL's Springfield Express in 2014-15, ended the month with back-to-back two point efforts against EWU and TWU respectively, as VIU solidified itself in fourth place in the BCIHL.
