SPARTANS CONTINUE HOMESTAND AGAINST THOMPSON RIVERS, UBC OKANAGAN

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western’s men’s soccer team continues its season-long six-game homestand this weekend when they host Thompson Rivers Friday and UBC Okanagan Saturday at Chase Office Field.

THE WEEKEND STORY
• Since opening the season with a 5-1 win over Victoria, the Spartans are winless in three games and looking to bounce back following a pair of draws with UNBC last weekend.
• TWU first-year goalkeeper Sebastian Colyn (Langley) was named the Canada West Men’s Third Star of the Week after he earned a shutout in his home debut last weekend.
• Leighton Johnson (Calgary) scored his fourth goal of the season last Saturday, equaling his career total through his first three years.
• With both teams scoring seven goals through the first two weekends, TRU and TWU are tied for second in goals within Canada West.
• UBCO has scored two goals in two games this year.
• TWU is unbeaten at home all-time against both TRU (3-0) and UBCO (2-0-1)
• TRU’s Justin Donaldson, who scored eight goals last year, is leading Canada West with 20 shots to go with two goals.
• UBCO’s two goals this year have come from Christian Taylor and Hamish Walde.
