SPARTANS HOST VICTORIA IN HOME-OPENER FRIDAY AT CHASE OFFICE FIELD

LANGLEY, B.C. – The No. 8-ranked Trinity Western men’s soccer team will kick-off its home schedule Friday, when the Spartans host Victoria (7:15 p.m. PT) at Chase Office Field.

WEEKEND PREVIEW
Saturday, Aug. 31 vs. Victoria (0-0-0) – 7:15 p.m. (PT)
Sunday, Sept. 2 @ UBC (0-0-0) – 2 p.m. (PT)

THE WEEKEND STORY
• TWU is riding a four-match regular season winning streak against Victoria, including 5-1 and 4-2 wins over the Vikes in 2017.
• Since taking over as head coach in 2016, Spartans coach Mike Shearon has yet to lose in the regular season against Victoria.
• The Spartans are coming off a season-opening 1-1 draw with UBC Okanagan, with Jacob Low (Port Moody, B.C.) scoring the lone goal for TWU.
• Sunday’s contest with UBC will mark a rematch of last year’ Canada West championship, which saw the Thunderbirds rally for a 3-2 overtime victory.
o The Canada West silver medal was TWU’s first second-place finish since 2008.
o UBC went on to finish fourth at the U SPORTS championship.
• The Spartans opened the season with a rare Monday afternoon tilt in Kelowna, B.C. Due to poor air quality because of the forest fires in B.C., the game had been moved from its originally scheduled Aug. 25th afternoon slot.
• TWU’s postponed match with Thompson Rivers, which had been scheduled for Aug. 26th, has been rescheduled for Oct. 17th at 3 p.m. in Kamloops, B.C.
