  • ALUMS LINDE FINISHES FOURTH IN 200M, GEORGE FIFTH IN 400M

    OTTAWA – Trinity Western Alums James Linde (Coquitlam, B.C.) and Nathan George (Coquitlam), who both graduated from the program in 2017, both put together top-five performances, with Linde finishing fourth in the 200m in 20.84 and George finishing fifth in the 400m in 47.02.

    WINDSOR, Ont. – Trinity Western fifth-year David Boyd (Victoria) led the way on the men's side Saturday at the U SPORTS championships with a fourth-place finish in pole vault, clearing 4.85m.

    The 1000m was one of David Boyd's weaker events, but with 200m left, he was feeling quite comfortable in a neck-and-neck battle for first place between him and Lethbridge's Brayden Posyluzny. Boyd was relieved knowing that only one lap remained in the seventh and final event of the heptathlon. Having woken up from a quick replenishing nap just 30 minutes prior to the race, Boyd was exhausted.

    WINDSOR, Ont. – The Trinity Western men’s 4x800m team won a bronze medal, claiming TWU’s first-ever U SPORTS men’s relay medal, while Regan Yee (South Hazelton, B.C.) won U SPORTS gold in the 3000m after an impressive race at the national meet Friday at the at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.

    This wasn’t most days. On one particular day in April of 2013, de Jong decided to avoid the sights and smells of the cramped bus. On this day, he decided to test a theory. “I’d be standing on the bus and I’d look out the window and sometimes I thought I could almost run raster,” de Jong recalls. On this day, he did just that. He ran home.

    “I was always a Christian, but I would be too shy to show it.” That was the mindset of middle distance runner Tyler Dejong before he decided to make Trinity Western University his home away from home. Hiding his faith was something he just did, as he was unsure how he would be perceived. Coming from a Christian home and developing his own faith, he knew it was only a matter of time before his “secret” would become known. However, the road to get to that point was far from easy.
