DE JONG FINISHES THIRD TO LEAD SPARTANS AT UVIC INVITATIONAL

VICTORIA – Trinity Western's Caleb De Jong (Winnipeg) finished third overall to lead the Spartans men's cross country team at the 2017 UVIC Invitational Saturday at Beacon Hill Park.

In a preview of the course that will host this year's U SPORTS championships in November, De Jong crossed the line in 31:28.60 over the 10 km route.

Following De Jong was a group of four Spartans who all finished amongst the Top 15, with fellow Winnipeger Levi Neufeld coming in seventh, Nick Colyn (Langley, B.C.) eighth, Declan White (South Surrey, B.C.) 13th and James Lam (Langley) 15th.

For the fifth-year White, it was his first race of the season after returning from injury.

UP NEXT
The Spartans will now prepare for the BC Cross Country Championships Oct. 28 at Clearbrook Park in Abbotsford, B.C.
