SPARTANS CAP PRESEASON SCHEDULE WITH WIN OVER PUGET SOUND

TACOMA, Washington – First-year Kathryn Harvey (Coquitlam, B.C.) and fourth-year Danae Derksen (Delta, B.C.) each scored for the Spartans as the Trinity Western's women's soccer team completed its preseason schedule with a 2-0 win over the University of Puget Sound Sunday.

Harvey opened the scoring for TWU before Derksen doubled the Spartans lead, converting after taking a brilliant pass from second-year Emily Robertson (Parksville, B.C.).

"Today was a typical preseason game where it was good to give lots of players a lots of minutes," said Spartans coach Graham Roxburgh. "There were some good performances and an opportunity to see some of the younger players in a competitive situation.

"Our second goal was an especially good goal, where Emily showed skill and vision and Danae produced a great finish."

TWU finished the preseason with a 3-1 record.

The Spartans open their Canada West regular season Sept. 8-9 at home when they host UBC and Victoria. Kickoff for both matches is at 5 p.m. (PT). Fans can watch all Spartan home soccer games at www.canadawest.tv.
