CARPENTIER GUIDES SPARTANS TO COMEBACK WIN OVER RYERSON

TORONTO – Playing in the gym that will host this year's CIS national championship, the Spartans women's volleyball team earned a 3-1 (20-25, 25-12, 25-15, 25-20) win over Ryerson Tuesday.

On the strength of Sophie Carpentier (Ottawa), who hit over .800 for the match, the Spartans rallied after a slow start to earn the win.

"It was great to get tested tonight," said Spartans coach Ryan Hofer. "They pushed hard in that first set and we had to make some adjustments and play at a higher level. They play really aggressive volleyball and are a good blocking team, so we were forced to make some smart decisions. But I thought we had a really well-rounded effort and was pleased with how we responded."

The Spartans will have Wednesday off before wrapping up their Ontario tour with a rematch of last year's CIS gold medal match against Toronto Thursday at 1 p.m. (ET).
