SPARTANS OPEN WESTCOAST CLASSIC WITH SWEEP OF WOLFPACK

LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western Spartans women's volleyball team opened the UBC Westcoast Classic with a solid 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-21) victory over the Thompson Rivers WolfPack Thursday night at the Langley Events Centre.

"It is great to play a Canada West team where both teams are banging the ball hard and blocking well, and playing just good volleyball," commented TWU head coach Ryan Hofer. "It is a lot of fun to measure ourselves against a Canada West team and it was great volleyball this evening. "

"We did some good things tonight and I loved watching what we have been working on in practice and see if we can make the transition to the game."

Fifth year outside Sophie Carpentier (Ottawa) with 16 kills, and Fifth year outside Elizabeth Wendel (Caronport, Sask.) with 10 kills led the Spartan attack.

Next up for the Spartans is the Alberta Pandas in game two of the WCC. Match time is set for 6 p.m. Friday night at the Langley Events Centre.

Match Notes: the last time the two teams played each other was in the 2016 Canada West quarter finals, which TWU won 2-0 (3-1, 3-1)…
