KINGSTON, Ont. – First-year Trinity Western runner Jouen Chang (Langley, B.C.) finished 16th in the junior women's race at the Canadian Championships to lead the Spartans contingent Saturday afternoon.
Chang, who was the Canada West Rookie of the Year at the university championships two weeks ago, finished the six kilometre course in 22:25.9. At the U SPORTS championships, Chang was 10th amongst Canada West athletes and 39th overall.
Following Chang was fellow first-year Bailey Haugan (Fort St. John, B.C.), who was 38th in the junior women's race in 23:40.5. Haugan was held out of the U SPORTS championships after picking up an injury in her final week of preparation.
On the men's side, TWU's Declan White (South Surrey, B.C.) was the lone Spartans athlete in the mix, as he finished 46th overall in the senior men's race, clocking a time of 32:57.9 over 10km. White was third in Canada West and 12th overall at the university championships.
Amongst the TWU alumni racing, Lisa Brooking finished seventh overall in the women's senior race, finishing the 10km course in 35:36.8.
Men's cross country alum Joel De Schiffart was 35th overall in the senior men's race in 32:39.6.
