SPARTAN ALUM JACKSON CAPS SUPERWEEK WITH TOUR DE WHITE ROCK TITLE

WHITE ROCK, British Columbia – Trinity Western alum Alison Jackson (’14), who is a track and field star turned cyclist, capped an impressive BC Superweek by capturing the Tour de White Rock omnium title, with wins in both the criterium and the road race.

Jackson, who was a two-time Canada West gold medallist in the 3000m (2013 and 2014) and a Canada West gold medallist in cross country (2013), finished BC Superweek with top 10 results in all nine races, including a fourth place in the prestigious Gastown Grand Prix.

Her result Sunday, which saw Jackson sit atop the podium after a hard-charging sprint to the finish, gave her the overall omnium title, which is a combination result of both Tour de White Rock races.

Jackson, 29, who races professionally for Team TIBCO/Silicon Valley Bank, had finished on the podium in the Tour de White Rock road race in three of the previous four years, but Sunday’s result was the first time she had won the race.

The product of Vermilion, B.C. has had a busy season, having also competed in Australia, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, China and the United States.

Jackson is currently ranked 70th overall in the UCI World Rankings.
