LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western forward Sophie Crowther (New Westminster, B.C.) is the Spartan Female Athlete of the Week for the second time after the Spartans tied the Fraser Valley Cascades 1-1 TWU’s lone women’s soccer match of the weekend.

The second-year, and current Canada West Rookie of the Year, was a strong presence and a constant threat for the Spartans in Saturday’s night’s match. Crowther finished the night with three total shots and one shot on goal. For her efforts she was named the Spartans MVP for the match.

Crowther is currently fourth in Canada West in shots on goal with nine shots and seventh in total shots with 11 shots on the season.

Last season Crowther led the Spartans in total points with 10 and assists with eight.

The Spartans will now have an extended road trip next weekend, September 8-10. TWU will travel to Victoria to face the Vikes on Friday night at 5 p.m. and then head to Calgary to take on the Mount Royal Cougars on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Both matches can be seen live on Canada West TV.
