LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western goalkeeper Hannah Miller (Langley, B.C.) is the Spartan Female Athlete of the Week after leading the women’s soccer team to a shoot-out victory in the Canada West quarter-final match Friday night at Chase Office Field in Langley, B.C.
Â
Facing the Calgary Dinos in the sudden death play-off game the psychology major had a solid match controlling the Spartans' back line, giving up only one goal in regulation and overtime.
Â
It was in the penalty shootout the fifth year rose to the occasion. With the two teams tied at 1-1 after regulation and overtime, Miller stood out making three saves on six shots to lead the Spartans to a 4-3 penalty kick victory and a berth in the Canada West Final Four.
Â
The Spartans will now head to Vancouver, B.C. to play the Victoria Vikes on Thursday at 7 p.m. at UBC’s Thunderbird Stadium in the semi-final match of the Canada West Final Four. A TWU win will send the Spartans to the Canada West championship match and a spot in the U SPORTS national championship.  It is the 19th straight year that the Spartans have qualified for the Final Four. All games can be seen live on Canada West TV.
