LANGLEY, British Columbia – For the second week in a row Trinity Western’s Jayden Gill (Abbotsford, B.C.) is the Spartan Female Athlete of the Week after averaging 19 points, four steals, and 2.5 blocks per game in the Spartans two wins against the Manitoba Bisons this past weekend at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C. The two wins move the Spartans to 8-0 in conference play, which is only the second time in TWU history that the Spartans have opened the season 8-0. The last time was during the 2021-22 season.
 
In Friday night’s 80-64 win, the fourth-year guard had 17 points, four steals, two blocks, and two assists. Then on Saturday night, the Human Kinetics student hit the game winning free throws in the Spartans come-from-behind 66-63 win. Gill had 21 points, four steals, three blocked shots, three assists, and three rebounds. Including hitting two free throws with 10 seconds remaining to give TWU a 64-63 lead.
 
Gill is currently averaging 18.4 points per game, third in CW, has 13 blocks, third in CW, while averaging a league leading 35.3 minutes per game in Canada West conference play.
 
The Spartans are now off for exams. TWU will be back on the court December 30 when they will host the Thompson Rivers WolfPack in a non-conference game. TWU’s next conference game is January 5-6 when they will travel to Vancouver to take on the UBC Thunderbirds. Game times is set for 5:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. and can be seen live on Canadawest.TV.

As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 13 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, cross country and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens. TWU also competes as an independent team in men's rugby and women's and men's disc golf. Since TWU entered U SPORTS in 1999, the Spartans have won 14 U SPORTS team championships and 33 Canada West team championships.
