LANGLEY, British Columbia–Trinity Western’s David Mutabazi (Delta, B.C.) is the Spartan Male Athlete of the Week after averaging 25.3 points, six rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game in a weekend split against the No. 1 Victoria Vikes this past weekend at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
 
In Friday night’s four-point, 93-89, loss, the third-year guard had 17 points, eight rebounds, and three assists as TWU almost defeated the top-ranked Vikes. Then on Saturday night, the psychology student stepped up with an impressive 34 points, six assists, and four rebounds to lead TWU to the upset overtime win over the No. 1 Victoria Vikes.
 
Mutabazi is currently fifth in Canada West in scoring with 19.3 points per game and eighth in rebounds with 8.4 rebounds per game.

The Spartans will now travel to Calgary to take on the Calgary Dinos on January 19-20. Game time at the Jack Simpson Gym is set for 8 p.m. (MT) on both nights. The games can be seen live on Canadawest.TV.

As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 13 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, cross country and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens.
