LANGLEY, British Columbia– Trinity Western’s Kara Yackel (St. Paul, Man.) is the Spartan Female Athlete of the Week after scoring two goals and totaling 13 shots in the Spartans two wins over the Regina Cougars this past weekend at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
Friday night Yackel had six shots to help lead the Spartans 2-0 win over the Cougars. Then on Saturday night the second-year forward had two goals on seven shots to help lead the Spartans to a 5-0 win over Regina.
The biology major now has seven goals and four assists on the season. The two goals in the game were also a career-best for a single game.
The Spartans will finish up their Canada West season in Edmonton, Alta. this Friday and Saturday against the Alberta Pandas. Game times are set for 6 p.m. and 4 p.m. and can be seen live on Canada West TV.
