LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western goalie Kate Fawcett (Tottenham, Ont.) has been named the Spartan Female
Athlete of the Week. Fawcett back-stopped the Spartans to back-to-back wins over the visiting Calgary Dinos at the Langley Events Centre this past weekend to help move the Spartans to 9-7 and third place in the West Division of Canada West.
On Friday afternoon the human kinetics student helped lead the Spartans to a 3-1 win by making 21 saves, and then on Saturday afternoon, she made 25 saves to earn another 3-1 victory.
Fawcett currently has a 1.88 goals-against average, sixth in CW, and a 0.930 save percentage, fifth in CW. And is tied for third in Canada West with six wins.
Fawcett and the 9-5 Spartans will face the No. 2 UBC Thunderbirds in a home-and-home series this Friday and Saturday. TWU will host UBC on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre, and then on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre. Both matches can be seen live on Canada West TV.
