LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western rookie goalie Olivia Davidson (Edmonton, Alta.) helped the Spartans to a weekend split with the Manitoba Bisons with a shootout victory Saturday night at the George Preston Recreation Centre in Langley, B.C. The rookie came in midway through the first period and shut out the Bisons, including three stops in the shootout, to give the Spartans a 3-2 shootout victory.
The first-year science student made 18 saves in just under 55 minutes and blanked Manitoba, to give TWU the 3-2 overtime win after the Spartans dropped the weekend opener 4-1 to the Bisons Friday night.
Davidson and the rest of the Spartans will now face the UBC Thunderbirds in a home-and-home series this Thursday and Friday, January 16 and 17. TWU will host UBC on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre. Both games can be seen live on Canada West TV.
