LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western third-year outside Kaden Schmidt (Mississauga, Ont.) has been named the Spartan Male Athlete of the Week after finishing with 43 kills, 16 digs, and seven aces on the weekend to lead the Spartan to a weekend sweep of the former No. 1 Alberta Golden Bears this past Friday and Saturday at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
 
The education student had 20 kills, three service aces, six digs, one block, and 23.5 points in Friday’s 3-2 win over the Bears and 23 kills, four service aces, 10 digs, one block, and 27.4 points in Saturday’s win over Alberta at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
 
Schmidt and the rest of the Spartans will now travel to Calgary, Alta. to take on the Calgary Dinos on Friday, January 24, and Saturday, January 25, with game times set for 7:30 p.m. (MT), and 4 p.m. (MT). Both matches can be seen live on Canada West TV.
