LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western fourth-year point guard Shemaiah Abatayo (Vancouver, B.C.) has been named the Spartan Female Athlete of the Week after finishing the weekend with 43 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, and four steals to lead the Spartan to two road wins this past weekend against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack and the UNBC Timberwolves.
 
The sociology student had 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, and one steal in the Spartans 67-33 win over the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack Thursday night in Kamloops, B.C. Then on Saturday Abatayo had a team-high 26 points, with five rebounds, five assists, and three steals in the Spartans 88-62 win over the UNBC Timberwolves in Prince George, B.C.
 
The Spartans will now return home to take on the UBC Okanagan Heat on Thursday night at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C. Game time is set for 6 p.m. and can be seen live on Canada West TV.

As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 13 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, cross country and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens. TWU also competes as an independent team in men's rugby and women's and men's disc golf. Since TWU entered U SPORTS in 1999, the Spartans have won 14 U SPORTS team championships and 33 Canada West team championships.
