LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western fourth-year forward Kyra McDonald (Inuvik, NT) has been named the Spartan Female Athlete of the Week after finishing with a record-breaking weekend with five goals and one assist for six points in two road wins over the Calgary Dinos in Calgary, Alta.

The human kinetics student had two goals and an assist in the Spartans' 6-1 victory on Friday night at the Father Bauer Arena. Then on Saturday night, McDonald had a record-breaking hat trick to lead the Spartans to a 4-1 win for the weekend sweep of the Dinos. The hat trick is a first for the Spartan program. The weekend sweep puts the Spartans within one point of securing a postseason berth.

The Spartans will return home to host the Alberta Pandas on Friday, January 31 at the Langley Events Centre, and Saturday, February 1 at the George Preston Community Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. (PT), and 7:15 p.m. (PT) and can be seen live on Canada West TV.
