LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western second-year heptathlete Dajean Clarke (Langley, B.C.)  has been named the Spartan Male Athlete of the Week after a record-breaking first-place performance at the Canada West track and field championships this past weekend at the City of Regina Fieldhouse in Regina, Sask.

The human kinetics student scored 5,008 points in the heptathlon to win gold at the Canada West Championships and break the Spartans heptathlon record. Clarke's podium-topping performance helped lift the Spartans men's team to a third-place finish.

Clarke's record-setting performance saw him better the TWU record of 4,997 points (Feb. 25, 2023), which was held by Spartans teammate Brandon Gremaud. With Clarke's win, TWU has now won six heptathlon gold medals in the last 10 years.

Clarke and the rest of the Spartans will now head to the U SPORTS track and field championships on March 6 at the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ont.
