LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western midfielder
Sophie Crowther (New Westminster, B.C.) is the Spartan Female Athlete of the Week after scoring two goals, including a game-winner, with six total shots in this past weekend's games at the No. 4 Victoria Vikes and the No. 1 UBC Thunderbirds.
On Friday night in a thrilling 2-1 win over Victoria, the fourth-year scored the Spartans' two goals, including the game winner on a corner kick in added time, to give TWU the victory. Crowther finished the contest with five shots on goal in 90 minutes of play.
On Saturday night, the education student played another 90 minutes, finishing with one shot on goal, in the Spartans' 1-0 loss to the defending U SPORTS champion No. 1 UBC Thunderbirds.
TWU is 1-1-0 after the weekend and will have a week off from conference play, but will be hosting the NCAA Seattle Pacific Falcons on Tuesday at 2 p.m. (PT) at Willoughby Stadium in Langley, B.C., and the Simon Fraser Red Leafs on Friday at 3 p.m. (PT) at Chase Office Field.
