LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western fifth-year centre Connor Platz (Langley, B.C.) is the Spartan Male Athlete of the Week after helping the Spartans to a weekend sweep, with wins over the Thompson Rivers WolfPack, 80-70, and the UNBC Timberwolves, 102-65. The wins clinch a playoff spot for the Spartans who are now 7-11 and in fifth place in the Pacific Division of Canada West.
 
In Friday’s win over Thompson Rivers the general studies student was flirting with a triple-double finishing with 11 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and four blocked shots in the 80-70 win. Then on Saturday night, in his final home game as a Spartan, Platz finished with 12 points, six assists, four rebounds and three blocks in TWU’s 102-65 win over UNBC.
 
Platz and the rest of the Spartans will now finish of Canada West conference play on the road against the Fraser Valley Cascades in Abbotsford, B.C. on January 30 at the UFV Athletic Centre and then head to Kelowna, B.C. to take on the UBC Okanagan Heat on January 31 at the UBC Okanagan Gym. Game Time is set for 8 p.m. (PT) and 6:30 p.m. (PT), with both games streamed live on Canada West TV.

As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 11 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens. TWU also competes as in the NAIA in track and field and cross country and as an independent team in men's rugby and women's and men's disc golf. Since TWU entered U SPORTS in 1999, the Spartans have won 14 U SPORTS team championships and 33 Canada West team championships.
