LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western third-year forward Kyra Anderson (Regina, Sask.) is the Spartans Female Athlete of the Week after helping lead the Spartans to a weekend sweep of the Calgary Dinos in Canada West quarter-finals this past weekend at the Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary, Alta. The 2-0 series win is the first time in program history that the Spartans have won a Canada West best-of-three quarter-final match-up.

In Friday’s 5-1 win, the biology student had the game-winning goal and an assist for two points, and then on Saturday, Anderson had another game-winner and an assist, with a perfectly placed top-shelf goal to send TWU to a 4-2 win and the best-of-three series 2-0.

Anderson and the rest of the Spartans will now be heading to the Canada West women’s hockey semi-finals, Friday, February 27- Sunday, March 1, in Vancouver, B.C., where they will face the No. 1 UBC Thunderbirds in a best-of-three series. The winner will advance to the Canada West final and earn a berth at the U SPORTS championships. All games will be streamed live on Canada West TV.
