LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western fifth-year middle/outside Kaylee Plouffe (Sherwood Park, Alta.) is the Spartans Female Athlete of the Week after helping lead the Spartans to a weekend quarter-final sweep of the Saskatchewan Huskies at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
 
In Friday’s 3-0 win, the human kinetics student finished with 16 kills, eight digs, and four blocks. Then in Saturday’s sweep, Plouffe helped the Spartans win the series with 11 kills, three digs, and one ace.
 
With the series win, Plouffe and the rest of the Spartans women’s volleyball team are now headed to Edmonton, Alta., for the Canada West Final Four, hosted by the Alberta Pandas. The Spartans will face the UBC Thunderbirds in the second semi-final at Saville Community Sports Centre on Friday, March 6. Game time is set for 8 p.m. (MT) and can be seen live on Canada West TV. The other semi-final pits the Alberta Pandas against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack, with game time set for 6 p.m. (MT).

As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 11 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens. TWU also competes as in the NAIA in track and field and cross country and as an independent team in men's rugby and women's and men's disc golf. Since TWU entered U SPORTS in 1999, the Spartans have won 14 U SPORTS team championships and 33 Canada West team championships.
