LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western first-year, throws, Sarah Ude (Surrey, B.C.) is the Spartans Female Athlete of the Week after setting a TWU record and qualifying for the NAIA B Standard this past weekend at the Pee Wee Halsell Invitational at the Civic Stadium in Bellingham, Wash.
 
The human kinetics student earned NAIA National Championship Qualifying “B” Standard and broke the TWU record in the hammer throw with a toss of 51.34m. Ude’s throw betters the previous mark of 50.09m, which she threw on March 21, 2026, in Coquitlam, B.C. Ude also finished eighth in the shot put with a throw of 10.83m.
 
On Saturday at the Ralph Vernacchia Invitational Ude finished fourth in the hammer throw with a throw of 50.05m, and eighth in the discus with a throw of 35.25m.
 
After a week off, Ude and the rest of the Spartans will now be heading to the CCC Championship at Banner Bank Track in La Grande, Oregon

As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 11 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens. TWU also competes in the NAIA in track and field, cross country, and as an independent team in men's rugby and women's and men's disc golf. Since TWU entered U SPORTS in 1999, the Spartans have won 15 U SPORTS team championships and 34 Canada West team championships.
