LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western forward Sophie Crowther (New Westminster, BC) is the Spartan Female Athlete of the Week after recording one goal and four assists in a weekend split against the UBC Okanagan Heat and Thompson Rivers WolfPack.

The fifth-year education student recorded one goal and four assists in Friday’s 6-0 win over UBC Okanagan in Kelowna, B.C. Her five points tied the TWU single-game record set by Daniela Gerig against Regina in 2008. Her four assists matched her career high and the program record she already shared, tying for the second-most in a match in Canada West history.

Her two shots on target lifted her career total to 108, breaking Seina Kashima’s TWU record of 107. Crowther also reached 56 career points, tying Krista Gommeringer for second in TWU history, two behind Kashima’s record of 58. Her 36 career assists rank second in Canada West history, four behind Kashima’s record of 40.

Crowther played all 90 minutes in both matches, finishing Friday with five shots before Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Thompson Rivers in Langley, B.C.

The 5-3-2 Spartans have next weekend off before hosting UBC Okanagan on Friday, October 16, and Thompson Rivers on Saturday, October 17, at Chase Office Field. Both matches begin at 5 p.m. (PT) and can be seen live on Canada West TV.
