LANGLEY, B.C. – The Spartans men's hockey team continue their homestand this weekend as they take on Victoria Friday at the Langley Events Centre, and Vancouver Island Saturday at the Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre.

THE WEEKEND STORY

• The Spartans take on Victoria Friday (Oct. 18) followed by Vancouver Island Saturday (Oct. 19) – the latter of which is a rematch of last week's home opener when TWU earned a 5-4 overtime win.
• Spartans defenceman Travis Verveda (Alix, Alta.) will look to keep the points from the blueline coming, after his three-point (1G, 2A) performance against VIU earned him BCIHL ANYTHING BRANDED Player of the Week honours. 
• TWU second-year forward Haydon Guilderson (Chilliwack, B.C.) will be playing his first game against the Vikes after transferring to TWU from Victoria. 
• Victoria comes to town after a pair of losses to Selkirk last weekend (L 3-2, L 4-3 OT), while the Mariners visit the Spartans for the second weekend in a row after losses to SFU (L 5-4) and TWU (L 5-4 OT) last weekend.
• Keenan Eddy leads the Vikes in points this season with four (2G, 2A), while Garret Dunlop's nine leads the Mariners (4G, 5A). 
• TWU held a 4-1-1 record against the Vikes last season, who finished last in the BCIHL last season with a 5-17-0-2 record. 
• The Spartans also bettered the Mariners in all eight of their matchups in 2018-19, holding a perfect 8-0 record including their BCHL championship series.
