LANGLEY, B.C. – A total of 61 Trinity Western Spartan student-athletes were awarded with U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian awards for the 2019-20 season.
The distinction bestowed by U SPORTS recognizes student-athletes which have achieved a minimum academic standing of 80% (3.7 GPA, minimum 18 semester hours) or higher while playing on a varsity team that competes in U SPORTS.
"This achievement is truly outstanding, especially considering the significant learning disruptions at the end of 2019-20 academic year," said
Jeff Gamache, TWU's Director of Athletics. "To have 20% of our student athletes on this list shows how our athletes have embraced our Complete Champion mentality.
"Congratulations to our incredible student-athletes for earning this distinction and thank you to the professors and staff at TWU for your tireless efforts in being more than just a communicator of information. Developing discipline needed to pursue excellence in the classroom and on the field of play will only produce great things in these student-athletes' futures."
This Spartans academic success in 2019-20 marks the fourth consecutive year TWU has had at least 60 student-athletes earn Academic All-Canadian honours.
