LANGLEY, B.C. – Hannah Miller (Langley, B.C.) was outstanding over the weekend, earning her the honour of being this week's Spartan Female Athlete of the Week, presented by Applewood Auto Group.
Â
Miller was not only instrumental in securing four points against the no. 3 ranked UBC Thunderbirds, but has been one of the biggest factors contributing to an undefeated season for the no. 1 ranked Spartans as their Canada West conference play has come to a close.
Â
The bulk of Miller's work came on Saturday as the third-year keeper made seven crucial stops, holding UBC off to keep the game at a 0-0 draw once the final whistle was blown. One of Miller's stops made in the late stages of Saturday's match prevented UBC from a goal that seemed all but sure, as Miller scrambled across the net to parry a low-driven shot which was eventually cleared by TWU.
Â
Miller has had consistently great performances throughout the year, earning nine clean sheets throughout TWU's 12 conference games played. This strong run of play for Miller and the Spartans back-line is enough to give them the highest number of clean sheets in Canada West.
Â
With Canada West conference play wrapped up for Miller and the Spartans, the team heads into Canada West playoffs with the no. 1 spot in the western conference.
