SPARTANS WIN FOURTH STRAIGHT IN 5-0 ROUT OVER UNBC

Box Score PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Trinity Western has won their fourth straight after Saturday's 5-0 victory over UNBC.

The no. 3 ranked Spartans are now 4-0-0 after completing another weekend sweep.

After a 6-0 victory on Friday, Saturday's match saw a young, and reinvigorated UNBC side who gave the Spartans more difficulties in the early stages of the game.

Still, Trinity Western could not be stopped. Gabi Low (Calgary) got Trinity Western going early, scoring her first of the weekend in the 16th minute.

Soon after Low's opener, the game was paused for the next hour as lightning struck at Masich Place Stadium, UNBC's home field.
With the game being resumed at 7:20 p.m., the Spartans came out with another goal as Sarah Bazille (Coquitlam, B.C.) scored her second Canada West marker on a beautiful, curled effort from approximately 25 yards out.

After scoring two in the first half, the Spartans flexed their muscles, adding another three goals. Gabi Low scored her second of the night in the 75th minute, while Kathryn Harvey (Coquitlam, B.C.) and Tilly James (Vancouver, B.C.) added two more in the 87th and 90th minute respectively.

NOTABLE
  • The Spartans totalled 11 goals scored across both matches while keeping a clean sheet in Friday, and Saturday's match.
  • This weekend's scoresheet was dominated by Anna Dunn (Edmonton) and Kathryn Harvey. Both players scored two goals and three assists each to pay massive contributions in both wins.
  • Both of Sarah Bazille's goals scored this season have been done in similar nature. The first-year right back has shown off her long range abilities with both being far outside the 18-yard box.
  • After starting the season on the injured list, Gabi Low's debut weekend showed no signs of rust. Low posted a three-goal weekend en route to two big wins for the Spartans.

QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Graham Roxburgh
"Credit to UNBC tonight, they defended extremely well and created a challenge for us to figure out ways to generate offence early on. Aliya coy (Calgary) was special early in the first half to give us offence by providing some really good runs and passes that our forwards couldn't get on the end of until Gabi Low's goal.

"Sarah Bazille scored a beautiful goal after the weather interrupted us, so that settled the game down in the second half for us. Elizabeth Hicks (Surrey, B.C.) was superb in distributing out of the back. She combined well with Sierra Haldorson (Winnipeg) who came back well off of an injury this weekend.

Overall, very pleased with our energy and intelligence this weekend."

UP NEXT
The Spartans will be at home on Sept. 24th and 25th for two rivalry matches against Fraser Valley (0-0-1).
