LANGLEY, B.C. – Four Spartans have been named Canada West All-Stars after Trinity Western's 9-2-3 regular season campaign.
TWU's selections are headlined by
Tilly James (Vancouver) being recognized as a first-team all-star in her second season with the Spartans. James earned a conference all-star, and a spot on the all-rookie team in the 2021 season. James finished the regular season with five goals and three assists through 14 matches played, playing several positions on the pitch to flaunt her versatility.
Alongside James comes the high-profile rookie trio of
Sophie Crowther (New Westminster, B.C.),
Charis Wardrope (Maple Ridge, B.C.), and
Danielle Cooper (Surrey, B.C.) who were all named to the all-rookie team. Crowther was also named a second-team all-star after putting together two goals and six assists on the season.
Crowther gashed opposing defences with her blistering pace on the wing throughout the entire season, often combining with Wardrope – who led the Spartans in goals with eight on the season. Wardrope capped off her rookie campaign in a tie for sixth on Canada West's goal scoring leaderboards.
Cooper was a steady presence for the Spartans back line, appearing in all 14 contests with 13 of them listing her name among the starters. Cooper played a combined 1108 minutes throughout the 14 matches she appeared in, making her rookie campaign a memorable one.
The No. 5-ranked Spartans take on Saskatchewan at home on Friday, Oct. 28 (7:30 p.m. PT) for their Canada West quarter-final bout.
