LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western defeated Axemen Rugby Club 34-17 at Willoughby Community Park on Saturday.
The entire Spartans (1-0) lineup played well in Saturday's BC Rugby Divison 2 tie against the Axemen (0-1).
Connor Bernardin (Langley, B.C.) highlighted TWU's day, sealing the deal with a spectacular run spanning more than half of the pitch to earn his first try as a Spartan.
AS IT HAPPENED
TWU started their day off quickly as
Lynden Duggan (Burnaby, B.C.) broke through for a try early on.
Jan Lourens (Smoky Lake, Alta.) followed up with the conversion, giving TWU a 7-0 advantage.
The Axemen followed up soon after, breaking through TWU's line to complete one of two tries they would make on the day.
The Spartans answered back emphatically, outscoring the Axemen 27-10 throughout the remainder of the game.

Favour Olaniyan (Gibsons, B.C.), and
Connor Bernardin to complete Saturday's debut for the Spartans in B.C.'s second rugby division.
