SPARTANS DROP ROAD CONTEST AGAINST GONZAGA

Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. – Playing a strong side from Gonzaga University, the Trinity Western women's soccer team lost 5-0 Saturday evening at Luger Field.

TWU rotated 20 players into the contest, with the Spartans giving seven first-year players a shot against a quality Bulldogs side.

Hannah Miller (Langley, B.C.) made three saves in the contest, while rookie goalkeeper Yasmine Pahal (Surrey, B.C.), who entered the game to start the second half, made five stops.

Gonzaga is coming off their strongest season yet in 2021, boasting a 15-5 overall record, a tally which broke their previous single season record for wins.

The Spartans are now 1-2 in the preseason, which includes a win over Western Washington (2-1) and a loss to Oregon State (4-1).

QUOTABLE
Graham Roxburgh - TWU Head Coach
"Tonight was a good learning experience for our young team. I thought we actually competed quite well against them, but they showed true quality in their finishing and we made some mistakes that they punished us for. We're frustrated that we gave up a few poor goals.

"However, there are lots of positives that we can take away. We just have to be better in defending in crucial moments as a team."

NEXT UP
TWU travels to Missoula, Mont. to play the University of Montana Grizzlies Monday at 3 p.m. (MT).
