LANGLEY, British Columbia – Three Spartans have been named Canada West All-Stars after Trinity Western's 9-2-3 regular season and a second-place finish in the Pacific Division.
Three-time all-star third-year defender
Tilly James (Vancouver, B.C.) and two-time all-star second-year forward
Sophie Crowther (New Westminster, B.C.) headline the Spartan squad being recognized as first-team all-stars. Both James and Crowther were also named to the Canada West rookie team in their first year, with Crowther taking home Canada West Rookie of the Year honours last season.
James finished the regular season with one goal through 14 matches played, playing a full 90 minutes per match, on a Spartan defence that finished second in CW in total shutouts with eight and second in goals against per game with 0.57. Crowther, who started every match, was again a handful for opposition defenders as she finished second in Canada West in points/game at 1.07, third in assists with eight, and fifth in goals with seven. She led a balanced Spartan attack that finished second in Canada West in goals per game with 2.64, second in goals with 37, and second in shots percentage at .155.
Alongside James and Crowther is rookie midfielder
Laren Spiller (Surrey, B.C.). Spiller finished the season with five goals and two assists for seven total points, which was third on the Spartans' point leaderboard.
The No. 6-ranked Spartans take on Calgary Dinos at home tonight at 7 p.m. PT for their Canada West quarter-final match-up.
