SPARTANS NAMED TO CANADA WEST ALL-STAR TEAM

LANGLEY, British Columbia – Three Spartans have been named Canada West All-Stars after Trinity Western's 6-4-5 regular season campaign. TWU's selections are headlined by third-year midfielder Thomas Powell (Coquitlam, B.C.) and third-year defender Adam Hajdecki (Surrey, B.C.) both being recognized as first-team all-stars.

Powell finished the season ranked ninth in Canada West with 0.54 points per game, seven total points, and 10th in goals with four markers. Powell, playing 1,232 minutes, was the strength of the Spartan midfield that finished fifth in Canada West with 21 goals. Hajdecki started 14 campaigns and played a full 1,260 minutes, playing the full match in each of his starts to anchor a Spartan defence that gave up less than a goal a game, 0.87, which was fifth in Canada West.

Alongside Hajdecki and Powell is first-year defender Vito De Cotiis (Burnaby, B.C.) who was named to the all-rookie team. De Cotiis played in 11 matches with one goal, and five shots and was also a mainstay of the Spartan backline with a total of 923 minutes, averaging 84 minutes per match.

The third-place Spartans are on the road tonight as they take on the Alberta Golden Bears in the Canada West quarter-final at UBC in Vancouver, B.C. Match time is set for 7 p.m. (PT) and can be seen live on Canada West TV. The winner will play the winner of UBC and Calgary in the Canada West semi-final on Saturday night at UBC.
