LANGLEY, British Columbia – The No. 6 Trinity Western Spartans dropped their final game of conference play 2-0 to the No. 1 UBC Thunderbirds Sunday evening at Chase Office Field in Langley, B.C. The loss drops the Spartans to 8-4-2, while the win gives the Thunderbirds a perfect season at 14-0-0.
Scoring for the Thunderbirds were Holly Whelan, and Nisa Reehal.
Second-year keeper Yasmine Paul (Surrey, B.C.), and first-year keeper
Emalie Lynn (Surrey, B.C.) made one save each in the Spartans loss, while the Thunderbirds Dakota Beckett made four saves in the UBC win.
UP NEXT
With the loss the Spartans will finish third in Canada West and will now head to Edmonton to play the MacEwan Griffins in the opening round of the Canada West play-offs. Match time is to be determined. All Canada West play-off matches will be streamed live on Canda West TV.

AS IT HAPPENED
The Thunderbirds Whelan opened the scoring in the 20th minute when she converted a square ball from Jade Taylor-Ryan to put UBC 1-0. UBC went up 2-0 when Taylor-Ryan sent a through ball to Reehal who hit the back of the net in the 23rd minute. UBC outshot TWU 5-4 in total shots, and 3-2 in shots on goal in the open 45 minutes.
Both teams had opportunities in the second half, but neither were able to find the back of the net.

- Trinity Western is now 19-30-12 lifetime against UBC. The Spartans lost to the Thunderbirds 4-0 earlier this season at Thunderbird Stadium in Vancouver, B.C.

- On Friday the Thunderbirds defeated the Fraser Valley Cascades 6-1 in Abbotsford, B.C.
- UBC and TWU met in last seasons Canada West Championship which TWU won 1-0 in PKs, and in the U SPORTS Championship which UBC won 1-0 in overtime.
- This is the first time that the Thunderbirds have finished a season unbeaten or tied, winning all 14 matches.
