LANGLEY, British Columbia – This Week in Sparta has four teams in action, with the men's and women's basketball teams back at the David E for a single-game week, while women's hockey is at home, for a two-game series, and the men's hockey is on the road.

NOTABLE 
  • The Spartans are currently in third spot in the West division at 7-7, while the Dinos are in fourth place in the West division at 6-6-1-1.
  • This weekend's match-up is for third spot in the West division with the top three teams making the postseason.
  • Last weekend the Spartans lost to the No. 4 Mount Royal Cougars 3-2 and 2-1 at home at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
  • Last weekend the Calgary Dinos were swept 3-1, and 3-2 by the Manitoba Bisons at the Wayne Flemming Arena in Winnipeg, Man.
  • TWU is currently 3-8 lifetime against the Dinos. Last season TWU was 1-3 against the Dinos, with the lone win being 3-1 on October 25.

  • The Spartans are currently in third spot in the Pacific Division at 4-4, while the Cascades are second in the Pacific at 6-2.
  • Last weekend at home the Spartans swept the Thompson Rivers WolfPack, winning 57-46 and 62-32 at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
  • Last weekend at home the Cascades split with the Victoria Vikes, losing 71-57 and winning 68-62 at home at the UFV Athletic Centre in Abbotsford, B.C.
  • TWU is currently 12-22 lifetime against the Cascades.
  • Last season TWU lost both games to UFV, 63-50, and 66-46 in Abbotsford. The Spartans' last win over the Cascades was 68-55 on December 2, 2022.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL

  • The Spartans and Cascades are tied for third spot in the Pacific Division at 3-5.
  • Last weekend at home the Spartans swept the Thompson Rivers WolfPack winning 84-63 and 70-67 at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
  • Last weekend at home the Cascades were swept by the Victoria Vikes losing 98-77, and 100-75 at home at the UFV Athletic Centre in Abbotsford, B.C.
  • TWU is currently 17-25 lifetime against the Cascades.
  • Last season, TWU split the two games against UFV, winning 77-76 and losing 93-67 in Abbotsford.
  • The Spartans have won three of the last four games against the Cascades.

  • The Spartans are currently in fourth spot in the West division at 2-11-0-1, while the Dinos are in third place in the West division at 8-5-0-1.
  • Last weekend on the road TWU lost to the Mount Royal Cougars 4-3 and 7-2 at the Flames Community Centre in Calgary, Alta.
  • Last weekend the Dinos swept the Manitoba Bisons at home at the Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary, Alta. The Dinos won 4-1 on Friday night, and 7-1 on Saturday night in Calgary, Alta.
  • TWU is currently 0-10 lifetime against the Dinos.
 
 About Spartan Athletics 
As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 13 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, cross country, and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens. TWU also competes as an independent team in men's rugby, as well as women's and men's disc golf. Since TWU entered U SPORTS in 1999, the Spartans have won 13 U SPORTS team championships and 32 Canada West team championships.
