SPARTANS TIE CORBAN WARRIORS

SALEM, Oregon – The Trinity Western Spartans ended their two-match swing through Oregon with a 1-1 draw against the Corban Warriors Saturday afternoon at the Outdoor Athletic Complex at Corban College in Salem, Oregon.
 
TWU second-year forward Destiny Omari (Paris, Ont.) scored the lone goal for the Spartans in the 39th minute. Corban's Alysia Alvarado opened the scoring with their lone goal in the 25th minute.
 
TWU split the keeping duties between first-year keeper Emalie Lynn (Surrey, B.C.) who played 63 minutes, gave up one goal, and made three saves, and second-year Harley Olijnek (Winnipeg, Man.) who played the final 28 minutes of the match. Corban split the back-stopping duties between Catriona Burns who made three saves and Ava Hayes who made one save and gave up one goal in the tie.
 
The Spartans outshot the Warriors 13-6 in total shots and 5-4 in shots on goal. TWU also had a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.
 
UP NEXT
The Spartans will return home to host the Western Washington Vikings on Tuesday, August 27. Match time at Chase Office Field is set for 7 p.m. PT.  Trinity Western opens Canada West conference play on Friday, September 6 against the TRU WolfPack. Match time in Kamloops, B.C. is set for 5 p.m. PT.
