SPARTANS GET LATE GOAL TO EARN TIE

LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western Spartans second-forward Mansha Sidhu (Surrey, B.C.) scored in extra team to give the Spartans a 1-1 draw with the Simon Fraser Red Leafs in the final preseason match of the 2024 season Friday evening at Chase Office Field in Langley, B.C.
 
TWU's second-year keeper Yasmine Pahal (Surrey, B.C.) made one save in the tie, while SFU's Sarah Loewen and Kelsey Fisher had one save.
 
SFU's goal came from Sarah Caravatta in the 64th minute on a penalty kick.
 
NOTABLE
  • TWU had an 11-7 edge in total shots. Both teams finished with two shots on goal.
  • The Spartans had five corner kicks to the Red Leafs two corner kicks.
  • The Red Leafs finished last season with a record of 5-5-4.
  • TWU is the defending Canada West champions and U SPORTS silver medalist.
