LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western third-year centre/wing
Ava Van Santen (Aldergrove, B.C.) has been named to the Canada West Rugby 7's Dream Team for helping to lead the Spartans to a third-place finish in Canada West Rugby 7's final tournament of the year his past weekend in Langley, B.C. The Spartans finish the tournament in third place with a 3-2 record.
The Dream Team selection is the third straight for the psychology student. The Spartans star scored two tries at the hometown Langley stop and led Trinity Western to a bronze, their first-ever Canada West Rugby 7s medal.
Also being named to the Dream Team were UBC's Skye Farish, Adia Pye, and Shalaya Valenzuela, and Victoria's Justine Blatt-Janmaat, Elle Douglas, and Olivia New.
UBC finished the tournament in first place at 5-0, Victoria was second at 4-1, with TWU third at 3-2, followed by Calgary at 2-3, Lethbridge at 1-4, and Alberta at 0-5.
Van Santen and the Spartans will conclude their season on March 29 when they travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts to take on the Harvard Crimson 7's.
