LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western's
Danny Earles and
Rui Ramsay have been named to Canada's track and field team for the 2025 FISU World University Games in Germany.
Earles will compete in the 400m and is also in the relay pool for the 4x400m while Ramsay will compete in the 4x100m.
Earles is coming off an impressive indoor season with the Spartans in which he captured Canada West gold in the 300m with a personal best time of 34.05. He title-winning time was the third fastest 300m performance in U SPORTS in 2025, with the converted time being 33.49.
Ramsay impressed in the 60m indoors, clocking a personal best time of 6.78 during the season to put him in the Top 12 in U SPORTS, before finishing fourth at the Canada West Championships with a time of 6.86. He also posted a time of 21.63 in the 200m indoors, which converted to 33.98 in the 300m, earning him the U SPORTS automatic qualifying standard.
Earles and Ramsay follow in the footsteps of Spartan track and field alums who have competed at the World University Games. James Linde (100m and 200m), Regan Yee (1500m) and Nathan George (400m) competed in 2017 in Taipei, while Yee also competed in Gwangju, South Korea in 2015 (3000m steeplechase) and Sabrina Nettey competed in Kazan, Russia in 2013 (long jump). Linde captured TWU's only FISU Games medal in athletics when he won silver in the 200m in 2017.
