LANGLEY, British Columbia – This Week in Spartans has five teams competing this week as men's hockey and the men's and women's cross country teams start their seasons, while men's and women's soccer continue conference play. Three weeks into the Canada West conference season, the Spartans women's soccer team will be having its home opener this Friday at Chase Office Field, when they host the Victoria Vikes. The men's team will end their three-week homestand with games on Friday and Saturday night at Chase Office Field against the Mount Royal Cougars and the MacEwan Griffins. Meanwhile, on the road, the Spartans men's hockey team will begin preseason play with games on the road against the UBC Thunderbirds and the SFU Red Leafs in Vancouver and Burnaby, B.C. While the men's and women's cross country teams will start their season with a race at the Gator Cross in Lakewood, Wash.
