THIS WEEK IN SPARTA

LANGLEY, British Columbia – It's the busiest week of the year so far in This Week in Sparta, with ten teams in action both at home and on the road. Women's soccer has two home games, while men's rugby plays a Coastal Cup match at home in conference matchups.  Women's hockey has a single preseason matchup, with women's volleyball hosting the eight-team West Coast Classic. On the road will be men's and women's cross-country, men's volleyball, men's hockey, and women's basketball.  With men's basketball continues its preseason play with a tour of China.

  • The No.8 Spartans are currently in third place in the Pacific Division at 4-2-0, while the WolfPack are in second place at 5-3-0, and the Heat are in fifth place at 2-3-1
  • Last week, the Spartans defeated the Fraser Valley Cascades 2-1 at Rotary Stadium in Abbotsford, B.C. The WolfPack defeated the UNBC Timberwolves 5-0 at Nonis Field in Kamloops, B.C. While the Heat lost to the UBC Thunderbirds 5-0 at Hillside Stadium in Kelowna, B.C.
  • TWU is currently 13-2-1 lifetime against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack. In their meeting in Kamloops, B.C., earlier this year, the Spartans lost 2-1 to the WolfPack.
  • The Spartans are currently 14-0-1 lifetime against the UBC Okanagan Heat. Earlier this year, TWU defeated UBC Okanagan 4-2 in Kelowna, B.C.

  • TWU began the 2025-26 preseason with a 3-2 win over the Thompson Rivers WolfPack at the David E. Enarson Gym in Langley, B.C. on September 19.
  • TWU is currently in fifth place in the Pacific Division at 3-3-2, while the Huskies are in fifth place in the Prairie Division at 1-4-1.
  • Last weekend, the Spartans defeated the MacEwan Griffins 3-2 and tied the Mount Royal Cougars 0-0 at Chase Office Field.
  • Last weekend, the Huskies lost 3-1 to the UBC Thunderbirds and defeated the UNBC Timberwolves 3-1 in two road games.
