LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western third-year keeper
Yasmine Pahal (Surrey, B.C.) made a penalty kick save and two late stops to earn a shutout and help lead the No. 8 Spartans to a 1-0 victory over the visiting UBC Okanagan Heat Saturday night at Chase Office Field in Langley, B.C. The win improves the Spartans to 6-2-0, while the loss drops the Heat to 2-4-2.
With the win, the Spartans extend their winning streak to four games.
Scoring the lone goal for the Spartans was third-year forward
Mansha Sidhu (Surrey, B.C.) with a penalty kick goal in the 10th minute.

QUOTABLE
Graham Roxburgh, TWU Head Coach
"I can't ever question the team's effort, although I think we got beat a lot to second balls, and I thought we were a little bit hesitant, and some of that's credit to them, the way they play. We didn't minimize their spaces, which is what we did in Kelowna. Really relieved, obviously, to come out with a win. Disappointed, Mansha's chance late in the first half, on a brilliant turn, wasn't rewarded. ?She scores there, it's 2-0, and it's a little bit different game. But Yazi kept us alive and ahead, and then, obviously, with the penalty saved, that's big. However, the bigger saves in the last minute, after our lack of communication and lack of decisiveness, almost cost us the three points."
AS IT HAPPENED
The Spartans' Sidhu opened the scoring in the 10th minute. Sidhu scored on a penalty kick after she was taken down in the box on a promising attack. The Heat were awarded a penalty kick in the 24th minute when Katie Scarth was fouled in the penalty area. The Heat's Annika Gross took the PK, but the Spartans' Pahal was up to the challenge to keep the Spartans up with a diving save. The half finished with TWU up 1-0 and outshooting the Heat 5-3.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second half. TWU's Pahal was able to keep the clean sheet with two spectacular saves in the final minutes, including tipping the ball over the bar on a shot by UBC Okanagan's Haden Thomas in the 79th minute.
