LANGLEY, B.C. – In Trinity Western's first home game of the 2026-27 season, the Spartans tallied 12 tries from nine different players to earn a 72-0 win over UBC Okanagan Friday afternoon at Willougby Southeast Field.

Bernabé Sosa Rey slotted four conversions, while rookie Liam de Goede knocked through two conversions.
TWU is 4-0 all-time against UBCO, with Friday's win being the Spartans largest margin of victory over the Heat, bettering a 54-3 win Aug. 30, 2025.

"Overall, we were really pleased with the energy and effort that the entire squad is trained with and that came forth on the field today against UBC Okanagan. I'm very pleased with young players like Liam de Goede, who started the game, and was able to do quite well in the aerial game, connected with
Liam Olafsen for a try. We just had our attack ticking pretty quickly in the in the first half. The scoreline at half was 39-0 and then in the second half, we had all our rookies get onto the pitch and were able to finish with a 72-0 scoreline. Defensively, there was a lot of good physicality. I think we got our height right at the contact area. We were also able to turn over some balls at the breakdown. So, overall, things that we wanted to improve from last week were on display today and we know we're going to have a really difficult match upcoming against UBC in our first match at Coastal Cup. We'll keep humble, keep working hard, and the results will follow."
